Which is true. Olympus Mons is the largest volcano in the solar system. Valles Marineris is a canyon that makes the Grand Canyon look like a drainage ditch. Mars is spectacular. It just might not have buildings.

The honest answer is: tea first, conclusions later. Every Mars structure found announcement deserves a moment of genuine curiosity before the debunking, because occasionally — just occasionally — something genuinely unexpected turns up in space. The universe is under no obligation to be boring. Nevertheless, until NASA holds a press conference with actual extraterrestrial architects in attendance, we shall file this one under “magnificent, ambiguous, and deeply entertaining.” Which is, when you think about it, the very best category to be filed under.
